Practice first — every week, on your instrument and on stage
The training is practice-oriented. Instrument knowledge, playing in groups, theory, masterclasses, semester subjects and practical development all run side by side, across three levels.
Program — general
The training is practice-oriented. The central elements are instrument knowledge, playing in groups, theory, masterclasses, semester subjects and practical development.
At the start of the training you choose Jazz or Pop. The practical lessons then place a stronger emphasis on the specialization you selected. At the same time you are challenged to discover and master different musical styles — the specialization is a focus, not a boundary.
Level 1
Level 1 focuses on mastering your instrument and learning how to play together in a group.

Springsessions
A 40-minute concert built around a theme. Students learn set construction, dynamics, ensemble playing and performing on stage.
Level 3
Level 3 focuses on your individual development as an artist — on stage and as a creator.

Solo project
20 minutes alone on stage.
Final concert
Students build the concert from start to finish. This is intended as preparation for the professional music world.
Combos and jams
Combos
- Combos take place twice a week.
- Each session lasts two hours.
- That is a minimum of four hours of combo per week.
- Combos are coached by professional musicians.
- You build style knowledge and develop repertoire.
- That repertoire leads directly into the jam sessions.
Jams
- From the end of October there are weekly jams.
- Jams happen at different locations — examples include Djingel Djangel and Trix.
- The combo opens the jam.
- Everyone is welcome to play.
- Jams are led by a teacher and/or a sound engineer.
The locations mentioned are examples, not a complete list.
Masterclasses
The masterclass and workshop week takes place in the last week before the school holidays.
Participants can include professionals from the music field, stage artists and music-industry professionals.

Stage / Bootcamp
In February the school travels to Hingenen for a residential stage week.
- Combo every day.
- Jam sessions late into the day and evening.
- The week ends with a final concert.
The stage week is an intensive part of your development: playing all day, listening all evening, and putting it on stage at the end.

Students are challenged with different concert goals throughout the training.
